In the village of Yavoriv, at the home of the Kischuk family, visitors can see authentic handwoven blankets (called lizhnyks), wool coats, rugs, and vests — and even join a weaving masterclass. The grandmother’s spinning wheel still works here, and, true to custom, songs are sung while spinning — a way to “infuse the yarn with living energy,” as Natalia explains.
Tourists from all over Ukraine visit this place, along with journalists, documentarians, and even celebrities. For example, one of Natalia Kischuk’s ethnic garments was purchased by none other than Jamala.
If you’re lucky, you might also see long-haired sheep in the yard — a rare sight nowadays in the Kosiv region.
